About us

Our Basket Range vineyard lies between the Piccadilly Valley and Lenswood in the cool climate Adelaide Hills at height of approximately 400m. Dedicated to Bordeaux varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot , Phillip Broderick concentrates on making just one wine each vintage, a French-style blend which expresses the terroir of the vineyard, and of the season.  Pinot Noir is also grown, the first release to be from 2010 fruit.

Soil and climate are play an essential part in the production of our wines, crafted in the traditional way by hand.

The original vineyard was planted in 1980 and since then it has grown to its current size and location of four hectares.  A small quantity of the grapes grown each year is retained to produce the Basket Range Cabernet Blend, a wine which is characteristic of the region, made by Phillip.

Atypically for Australia, we endeavour to release each vintage closer to when it is drinking well, rather than soon after bottling.

Vino Cotto was first made in 2010 and recipes can be found on the recipes page.

Basket Range Wine is available via mail order and selected restaurants.
